Toby is a Libra. In elementary school, her nickname was Toby Wan Kenobi. She likes Fairy Tales. By day, she is a statistical geneticist at the University of Pittsburgh studying the inheritance of cleft lip and palate. By night, she is a swing-dancing, poker-playing, curry-eating woman of mystery.

Matt isn't really all that mysterious. Albert Einstein is his hero. He likes to play soccer and tetris. During the week he is a software developer at Carnegie Learning working on tutoring software for high school mathematics. During the weekends he is a back-country adventurer, hiking through the woods and sleeping under the stars. Unless it's cold outside and he's at home cheering for the Cleveland Browns.

Our paths crossed many times before we met.
We both went to Carnegie Mellon University. We both majored in Computer Science. We both graduated in May, 2000. But we never met in college. Several years later, at a swing dance in Pittsburgh where Matt was a regular, Toby joined the scene. We both thought the other looked familiar. We danced a few dances, took a few lessons, and became friends. We started dating in the summer of 2003.

June 9th, 2004
After taking a five week cross country road trip, we returned to Pittsburgh, to the spot of our first kiss. We got some Thai food to-go, and headed to Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park for a picnic. It was sunset, and the cinema in the park was about to start showing Lord of the Rings Return of the King. Before the movie started, Matt pulled out the ring that he'd been carrying around for six weeks (to San Francisco and back) and asked Toby to marry him. She said yes. :)
